Coronavirus

Dear Parents/Carers
We are currently considering how we can best apply the guidelines recently outlined by the government to Bishopsteignton Pre-School and the proposed re-opening on 1 June 2020.  Devon County Council have told us that they intend to provide further advice to childcare settings but as yet, this information has not been received. Our pre-school will inevitably look very different as we work towards welcoming children back. A key point to outline at this early stage is that due to the guidelines, it will not be possible for all children to spend time with their key person and it may not be possible to offer the same sessions as previously occupied. A number of toys and activities children are used to will not be available to reduce risks.  We will be reviewing the situation on a weekly basis but anticipate that we will be allowing 6-7 children to attend per session to begin with.  We will also be splitting the day into two separate sessions 9-11:45 and 12:15-3.  Only the children of key workers will be eligible to stay all day.  This is in order to acclimatise children back into pre-school life gently, accommodate as many children as possible to attend whilst working at a drastically reduced capacity and so that we are able to break to carry out essential cleaning in an attempt to keep children and staff safe. To assist with our planning and organisation, we now need an accurate picture of the numbers of children returning to our pre-school.   Some of you have already replied but many haven’t or are undecided.  Please could you give this matter some thought and let us have your response no later than 3pm this Wednesday 20th May.  If you do not respond then we will assume that a place is not required.Should you choose not to send your child back initially, but change your mind, this will not be a problem but we ask that we are informed by 12pm on Thursday of the week before in order that we can plan accordingly. Please be assured that all staff at Bishopsteignton Pre-School want to welcome children back as quickly as possible but we need to consider how best this will work whilst trying to keep everyone safe. We thank you for your patience and will be in touch with further details later in the week.

Kindest regards

Pre-school committee & staff
