We believe that parents and other family members (such as grandparents, carers etc) are the first and most important educators of their children and we actively encourage families to get involved with their children’s learning. Some of things we encourage our families to do include:
Join or be part of the committee.
This is essential to the running of the preschool and allows parents the chance to have a say in the management of the preschool where their children attend. It is also a great opportunity to meet other parents and feel part of the community.
Assist with fundraising!
As a charity-run preschool, we are always looking for new ways to raise money. Any new ideas and/or support with planned fundraising events will be gratefully received.
Join the Paperchase.
This is worth about £120 per month to the preschool and involves collecting card and paper from around the village and off loading it into a skip for collection. We can easily fill a large skip in one day as the support for this within the community just keeps increasing. We are always looking for new volunteers to help with the collection – at present each volunteers is on a quarterly rota so it only involves half a day on a Saturday, four times a year!
Share your talents!
If you have a passion for singing, reading or teaching come in and share it with the children.
Help out with trips and special occasions
Occasionally we like to take the children off-site so they can explore their local community. We need additional adult supervision to assist with these trips so any volunteers to help make this happen will be gratefully received.
